It can be wishy washy. I’ve had a check where the bill was 50$, and they totaled to check to read 40$. Do you take a negative amount?

Kellie B.i agree with BW. we know what the law says but it doesn't always make sense. you can usually tell what the customer intended, go with that and don't try and screw them over, if they contend, then deal with it then. nothing gets changed on their paper slip, they get charged with what is entered into the computer. if an issue arises, you always have that paper trail. are you in Canada or somewhere where they enter it direcyly into the computer?

so, I've had tables total upwards of $50 what it should be. so you would keep the extra $50? that seems wrong to me...
